(Boanghean) -This afternoon, November 9, a delegation from the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs led by Deputy Minister Nguyen Ngoc Phi inspected vocational training for rural workers in Thanh Chuong district.

In Thanh Duong commune, the delegation directly learned about the vocational training situation for rural workers in the locality. This is a purely agricultural commune, the people's lives are completely dependent on agricultural production, and the average income per capita is low. Therefore, the need for vocational training to change occupations, change the economic structure, and increase income for people is given special priority by authorities at all levels and sectors in Thanh Chuong. Due to the characteristics of the locality, in recent times, the occupations that have been focused on training are animal husbandry, crop cultivation, and some service industries. Through vocational training courses, farmers have grasped and applied scientific and technical knowledge in crop cultivation and livestock breeding, contributing to increasing the value and efficiency of production, increasing income, eliminating hunger, and reducing poverty in the commune.

Thanh Chuong identified 5 key occupations to focus on training: cultivation, animal husbandry, civil electricity, carpentry and groups of occupations to supply labor for domestic and foreign enterprises. By 2015, the district strives for over 20% of its labor force to have received vocational training. In the first 10 months of 2011 alone, through the district Vocational Training Center, Thanh Chuong opened 6 industrial sewing training classes; 3 pig raising classes; 4 commodity flower growing classes; 2 information technology training classes; 2 rural electricity management classes; 3 brocade weaving classes; 2 bamboo weaving classes; 2 car driving classes.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Ngoc Phi spoke, emphasizing: Vocational training must achieve the following goals: training is associated with job creation; choosing a training profession for rural workers must be based on an economic structure suitable to the actual conditions of each facility, locality, and region, including the needs of learners, especially taking advantage of leisure time. District-level vocational training centers need to have appropriate training programs and times for each group of learners in order to help learners easily absorb and effectively apply the knowledge they have learned to their production and business.
