On December 8-9, the interdisciplinary working group of the National Committee for AIDS, Drug and Prostitution Prevention and Control led by Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Lien Huong - Deputy Minister of Health, had a working program in Nghe An province on AIDS, drug and prostitution prevention and control.

On December 8 and the morning of December 9, the interdisciplinary working group came to work and inspect the prevention work.AIDSand drug and prostitution evils at the following units: Vinh City General Hospital, Dien Chau District Medical Center, Hoang Mai Town Medical Center, Prison No. 6 - Ministry of Public Security, Glink organization's clinic in Vinh City and Nghe An Province Center for Disease Control.

On the afternoon of December 9, the interdisciplinary working group had a meeting with the Steering Committee for disease prevention and control.HIV/AIDS, drugs, prostitution in Nghe An province. Comrade Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of the Department of Health, Provincial Police, Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs and members of the steering committee worked with the delegation.

At the meeting, the Steering Committee for HIV/AIDS, Drugs and Prostitution Prevention and Control of Nghe An province reported to the working delegation on HIV/AIDS prevention and control activities and drug and prostitution in Nghe An province in 2022. Accordingly: Nghe An province has actively, proactively and promptly directed departments, branches, sectors, unions, districts, cities and towns to seriously and drastically implement solutions to prevent and control AIDS, drugs and prostitution.

Through leadership and direction in implementing the work, the role and responsibility of departments, branches, sectors, organizations, and authorities at all levels has been enhanced; awareness has been raised and the strength of the entire political system has been mobilized to participate in the work of preventing and combating AIDS, drug abuse, and prostitution; actively contributing to reducing the spread of HIV/AIDS, curbing the growth rate of crime, drug abuse, and prostitution.

Appreciating the efforts of Nghe An province, the working delegation also made suggestions to make the local work of preventing and combating AIDS, drug and prostitution more effective; at the same time, they acknowledged the recommendations and proposals of Nghe An province and answered some questions related to legal documents, regimes and related policies.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Lien Huong suggested: Nghe An province continue to effectively lead and direct projects and programs to prevent and combat AIDS, drug abuse and prostitution; promote effective coordination between inter-sectoral agencies and community organizations to expand activities and pilot models; pay attention to drug users and homosexuals; organize research to comprehensively assess risks and propose effective prevention and control measures; strive to ensure resources, biological products, equipment for AIDS prevention and control work and pay attention to policies for implementing staff.

Receiving the opinions of the working delegation, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Bui Dinh Long stated: In the coming time, Nghe An will continue to seriously and effectively implement the directives of the Central and Provincial Party Committees on the prevention and control of AIDS, drug and prostitution; synchronously deploy all aspects of prevention work; do a good job of grasping, analyzing, forecasting the situation, organizing effective combat against drug crimes; effectively review and classify drug addicts to have strict management measures; improve the effectiveness and gradually socialize drug addiction treatment, and treatment of opioid addiction with Methadone; strengthen inter-sectoral coordination to comprehensively and effectively implement HIV/AIDS prevention and control.
