According to Bloomberg news agency, the departure of Mr. Chris Wilkins will put the British Prime Minister in a confusing situation when he is no longer with his colleagues who were once the authors of the UK's Brexit scenario.

This is all the more tense as negotiations with the European Union (EU) are at a particularly crucial juncture.

Chris Wilkins says he will leave his position at the Prime Minister's Office at the end of this week.

Since the general election, Mrs. May has witnessed the departure of a series of senior advisers in the fields of policy, strategy and communications.

The resignation letters clearly show that those leaving no longer have high expectations for their future jobs.

Mrs May has now lost both of her most senior strategists since the general election. Previously, Mr Nick Timothy, Mrs May's co-chief of staff, left shortly after the British Prime Minister's Conservative Party failed to win a majority in parliament.

Nick Timothy and Wilkins drafted Mrs May’s Brexit roadmap speech in January, in which she outlined her plans to leave the EU’s single market and customs union.

Britain has less than two years to go in Brexit negotiations, but the biggest question of what kind of Brexit deal it really wants remains unanswered.

Last week Mrs May held her first formal meeting with business leaders to discuss the issue.
