Cambodian Prime Minister: Anyone who opposes January 7 is an ally of the Khmer Rouge

According to a VNA reporter in Phnom Penh, one day before the 36th anniversary of the victory over the Khmer Rouge genocidal regime (January 7, 1979 - January 7, 2015), Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen gave a speech praising this great victory with the view that those who opposed January 7 were allies of the Khmer Rouge genocidal regime.

Speaking in T'bong Khmum province, Prime Minister Hun Sen affirmed that the event of January 7, 1979 is a historical truth that will never be forgotten because it was the day the entire Cambodian people rose up against the Khmer Rouge regime. Prime Minister Hun Sen emphasized that without January 7, 1979, there would be no life for the Cambodian people today.

Previously, on January 3, in S'vay Rieng province, a ceremony was held to celebrate the 36th anniversary of the victory over the Khmer Rouge regime with the participation of many generals and officers of the Royal Cambodian Army, along with over 1,000 teachers, students and local people.

At the ceremony, Cambodian Defense Minister Meang Samphon emphasized that this is a great holiday for all Cambodian people to celebrate the 36th anniversary of the historic victory, overthrowing the Polpot genocidal regime, bringing life back to the Cambodian people.

Mr. Meang Samphon emphasized that Cambodia celebrates the anniversary of the victory over the Khmer Rouge genocide regime with a spirit of respect and deep gratitude to the heroes, soldiers, patriots who sacrificed themselves and the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who fought with great courage and bravery to liberate Cambodia from the genocide regime, protect and bring a peaceful life to the Cambodian people.
