Prime Minister cuts ribbon to "take off" Vietnam Airlines' Airbus A350
Vietnam Airlines Corporation has just received its first new generation A350-900 XWB aircraft, officially announced the 4-star service upgrade program and launched a new brand identity system at VIP A guest house, Noi Bai International Airport early this afternoon (July 2).

This is a special event, marking a major step forward for Vietnam Airlines in its goal of becoming one of the leading airlines in the region and a favorite in Asia by 2020.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung congratulated Vietnam Airlines on receiving the first new generation A350 aircraft from Airbus, second only to Qatar Airways. According to the package contract, VNA will continue to receive a total of 14 new generation aircraft. Along with receiving these 14 aircraft, Vietnam Airlines will begin receiving new generation Boeing aircraft.
Emphasizing that this is a turning point, a step forward in the airline's progress, along with the announcement of the 4-star service upgrade program and new brand identity system, the Prime Minister believes that Vietnam Airlines will perform well its tasks and functions of receiving and putting into effective and safe operation the A350 and Dreamler 787-9 aircraft.
The Prime Minister also praised Vietnam Airlines throughout the years, despite economic fluctuations and challenges, the airline has always developed and has never said that Vietnam Airlines is making a loss, even when the aviation industry is facing difficulties.
“Recently, due to the economic recession, aviation activities have encountered many difficulties, but VNA has overcome all difficulties and developed its fleet and apparatus to become the leading national airline in the region in terms of fleet, economic stability and efficiency, and high revenue and profit,” said Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.
The Prime Minister also emphasized that the image of the national airline Vietnam Airlines is the image of the country, requiring the airline to develop comprehensively, with higher quality, achieve higher efficiency, higher quality, promote achievements and strive to overcome limitations and weaknesses to become an airline worthy of the trust and pride of the people.
Appreciating the cooperation between Vietnam Airlines and Airbus, the Prime Minister hopes that the two sides will continue to cooperate further, not only in selling aircraft but also in providing services, training human resources, maintenance and repair, and even bringing Vietnamese enterprises to participate in the production of the modern A350 aircraft, while expanding cooperation on aircraft types that Vietnam is using for defense purposes.
This afternoon, July 2, Vietnam Airlines also announced the implementation of a service quality upgrade program with the goal of achieving 4-star service standards by the end of 2015.
Accordingly, all service chains from booking, ticketing, in-flight services, after-sales services, service attitude, supply items, etc. are reviewed and upgraded overall, with the desire to bring new utilities, friendlier services according to international standards to create great experiences for passengers on a completely new fleet of aircraft.
In addition, the program to introduce Vietnam Airlines' new brand identity and uniform was also launched at this special event and officially put into operation from July 3.
As an important item in the brand identity system, the uniforms of pilots, flight attendants and staff are also changed to match the overall orientation, the colors of the logo, aircraft and other items such as the design of the waiting room, ticket counter, check-in counter, tag system, signs...
According to Mr. Pham Viet Thanh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Airlines Corporation, the application of the new brand identity system and the implementation of the program to upgrade Vietnam Airlines' service quality to 4 stars aims to continue to meet new requirements, create a difference in the roadmap to improve service quality and bring added value to customers.
“We are determined to make Vietnam Airlines a truly strong airline, committed to bringing customers exciting experiences on Vietnam Airlines flights, imbued with the traditional identity of the Vietnamese people combined with modern technology,” Mr. Thanh emphasized.
Mr. Thanh also revealed that next week, Vietnam Airlines will also receive the Boeing Dreamler 787-9 aircraft.
At the event, Vietnam Airlines and Airbus signed a cooperation agreement to provide technical services for A350 aircraft. Accordingly, Airbus guarantees to provide spare parts and supplies for Vietnam Airlines' A350 fleet for 12 years./.
Vietnam Airlines will become the first airline in Asia and the second in the world to operate the A350 XWB. The new A350 XWB will join Vietnam Airlines’ existing fleet of 59 Airbus aircraft, including 49 A321s and 10 A330s.
From now until 2019, Vietnam Airlines fleet will have 14 A350 XWBs, including 10 ordered from Airbus and 4 leased.
State-of-the-art technology makes the A350 XWB the most efficient aircraft, reducing fuel consumption and emissions by up to 25% with low maintenance costs.
