Prime Minister announces nationwide Covid-19 epidemic
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc announced the Covid-19 epidemic nationwide and outlined 10 groups of prevention measures, noon April 1.
According to the decision, the outbreak occurred on January 23, 2020, when the first person infected with nCoV was identified. To date, the outbreak has been identified nationwide. This is a group A infectious disease, with the risk of a global pandemic; transmitted through the respiratory tract from person to person.

The Prime Minister assigned Ministers, heads of ministerial-level agencies, and provincial People's Committee Chairmen to implement the decision.

Previously, on the morning of March 31, the Prime Minister issued a directive requiring nationwide isolation, effective from 0:00 on April 1 and lasting for 15 days. Social isolation is implemented according to the principle of "family isolation from family, village isolation from village, commune isolation from commune, district isolation from district, province isolation from province".
Vietnam currently records 212 Covid-19 patients, of which 60 have recovered, including 2 people in Ninh Thuan who were discharged from the hospital on the morning of April 1.
According to the Law on Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases, the Prime Minister declares an epidemic at the request of the Minister of Health for group A infectious diseases when the epidemic spreads rapidly from one province to another, seriously affecting human life and health.
This law provides for a higher level of declaring a state of emergency in case of an epidemic. The National Assembly Standing Committee shall issue a resolution declaring a state of emergency upon the request of the Prime Minister; in case the National Assembly Standing Committee cannot meet immediately, the President shall issue an order declaring a state of emergency.
