Chaired by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, today (March 2), the Government held its regular meeting for February 2015.

The report on the socio-economic situation in February and the first two months of 2015, the implementation of Resolution No. 01/NQ-CP of the Government presented by Minister of Planning and Investment Bui Quang Vinh at the meeting showed that in the first two months of the year, ministries, branches and localities actively implemented the Resolutions of the National Assembly, Resolution No. 01/NQ-CP dated January 3, 2015 of the Government and the Directives and Official Dispatches of the Prime Minister on price and market stabilization, preparing people for the Lunar New Year, as well as tasks that need to be implemented after the Lunar New Year and have achieved positive results.

The supply of goods and services is abundant; market prices during and after Tet are quite stable, there is no price fever phenomenon, the consumer price index has decreased compared to the previous month. Total retail sales of goods and services continue to increase in volume, showing positive signs of increased aggregate demand.

Agricultural production continues to develop; irrigation water supply is guaranteed, well serving people's daily life and production needs.

Industrial production and import-export activities in February decreased compared to the previous month due to the impact of the long Tet holiday, but overall the first two months of the year were still quite good.

State budget collection progress is quite good; interest rates and exchange rates are stable.

Realized ODA and FDI capital continued to increase compared to the same period; FDI attraction continued to achieve positive signals, focusing on the processing and manufacturing industry.

Business development activities have shown initial positive signs. The service sector has developed quite well, tourism and spring travel activities have been vibrant; festival organization has been directed with attention, ensuring joy, healthiness and economy; international arrivals to Vietnam in February increased compared to the previous month.

Policies to ensure social security are implemented with attention. The lives of people, especially those with meritorious services, poor households, ethnic minorities, remote areas, border areas, and islands are taken care of both materially and spiritually; political security and social order are maintained; work to ensure food hygiene and safety, traffic safety, and fire prevention and fighting are strengthened... ensuring that everyone can celebrate Tet and enjoy Spring in a warm and safe manner.

However, Minister Bui Quang Vinh also emphasized that in early February, severe cold spells affected the rice planting progress in the northern provinces.

Although the traffic accident situation has decreased compared to the same period last year, the number of serious and especially serious accidents during and after Tet is still high. Production and business activities of enterprises still face many difficulties...
