Mr Hun Sen said he had sent a court-issued arrest warrant for Mr Rainsy to Laos and Thailand. In 2017, a Cambodian court dissolved the CNRP and banned a number of senior members from politics for five years, accusing the party of “plotting to overthrow the government”.
In March, the Phnom Penh court ordered the arrest of Mr. Rainsy and several former CNRP members on charges of plotting treason and incitement.
