Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung meets with Russian Prime Minister and Australian Prime Minister
On the afternoon of November 12, in the capital Nay Pyi Taw (Myanmar) on the occasion of the 25th ASEAN Summit, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung had an official meeting with Russian Prime Minister Medvedev and Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott.

At the meeting between Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and Prime Minister Medvedev, both sides expressed their delight at the strong development of the traditional friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and the Russian Federation in all fields in recent times.
Vietnam is an important strategic partner of Russia.
The two Prime Ministers had an in-depth discussion on measures to further promote the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries in the fields of politics, economics, security - defense, education and training, energy, science, technology...
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung suggested that both sides make joint efforts to develop relations in an increasingly practical and effective manner in the spirit of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership; promptly complete important agreements for signing in the coming time; and create favorable conditions for early conclusion of negotiations on the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.
Prime Minister Medvedev affirmed that Vietnam is an important strategic partner of Russia in the region; he was pleased that Vietnam will be the first partner to sign a Free Trade Agreement with the Customs Union according to the roadmap agreed by both sides, opening a new stage for the development of relations between the two countries in economics, investment, trade and science and technology.
The two Prime Ministers agreed to bring Vietnam-Russia trade turnover to 10 billion USD in the coming time.
Prime Minister Medvedev said Russia is ready to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese goods to be exported to Russia, especially agricultural and aquatic products; assessed Vietnam as an increasingly attractive destination for Russian tourists, and said it is expected that in 2014 there will be 400,000 Russian tourists coming to Vietnam.
The two Prime Ministers agreed to direct ministries and sectors to actively complete agreements expected to be signed during General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's official visit to the Russian Federation, ensuring the visit is successful and achieves substantive results.
The two sides also discussed regional and international issues of mutual concern.
Regarding the East Sea issue, Prime Minister Medvedev shared the views of Vietnam and ASEAN on resolving disputes by peaceful means, on the basis of compliance with international law and always wishing for a stable situation in the East Sea.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung respectfully invited Prime Minister Medvedev to visit Vietnam soon so that the two sides could continue to discuss specific measures to further deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Prime Minister Medvedev happily accepted the invitation.

Australia strongly supports ASEAN and Vietnam's stance on the East Sea issue.
At the meeting between Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott, both sides were pleased to see that the relationship between the two countries is developing strongly in many fields, especially in trade, education and training, and people-to-people exchange; affirming that the two sides still have much potential to strengthen bilateral cooperation to bring about practical results.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung asked Australia to facilitate Vietnam's exports and increase the number of scholarships for Vietnamese students to study in Australia. He appreciated Australia's maintenance of ODA for Vietnam and hoped that Australia would continue to support Vietnam in sustainable socio-economic development and climate change response.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung also proposed that the two countries soon approve the Action Program between the two countries for the coming period.
Regarding the East Sea issue, Prime Minister Tony Abbott affirmed Australia's strong support for the stance of ASEAN and Vietnam on resolving disputes through peaceful measures, on the basis of international law, maintaining peace, stability, security, safety and freedom of navigation and aviation in the East Sea.
