Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung meets with Chairman of the Russian State Duma
On the afternoon of December 2, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung had a meeting with Chairman of the State Duma Sergegy Yevgenyevich Naryshkin, who is on an official visit to Vietnam.

Warmly welcoming the visit of the Chairman of the State Duma of Russia (the Russian lower house of parliament), Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung highly appreciated the results of the talks between the high-ranking delegations of the two countries' parliaments, considering this an important contribution to the increasingly good development of the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Russia.
The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to Russia and the Russian people for their great and valuable help and support for Vietnam in the past struggle for national independence and reunification as well as in current national construction.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung emphasized that Vietnam especially values, wishes to and will do its utmost, together with Russia, to continue to develop the bilateral relationship to become increasingly effective, practical, sustainable and trustworthy.
In this spirit, the Prime Minister suggested that Vietnam and Russia strengthen coordination and support each other's stance and legitimate interests at international forums, especially the United Nations. Promote the exchange of high-level delegations and all-level delegations, and people-to-people exchanges to enhance mutual understanding and trust. Promote cooperation in potential areas such as economics, trade, investment, and tourism. Promote cooperation in traditional areas such as science and technology, education and training, oil and gas, military technology, and nuclear energy.
With the affection of the generation that knew Vietnam during the war, witnessed the close relationship and development of the relationship between the two countries, the Chairman of the State Duma of Russia affirmed his admiration for a nation that fought bravely and did not hesitate to sacrifice for independence and freedom; impressed by the affection of the Vietnamese leaders and people for Russia and the Russian people.
The Chairman of the State Duma affirmed that Russia highly appreciates Vietnam and attaches great importance to developing bilateral relations in all aspects and fields, from politics, diplomacy, economics to cooperation in the humanitarian field, especially in the fields of oil and gas, nuclear energy and military technology.
At the meeting, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and the Chairman of the Russian State Duma also shared about the complex changes, instabilities and conflicts in the world; mentioned the values of a multipolar world, respect for dialogue and compliance with international law, and respect for each other's legitimate interests.
Regarding the East Sea issue, the Chairman of the Russian State Duma reaffirmed Russia's support for Vietnam's stance.
“Russia’s stance on the East Sea remains consistent and unchanged. It is to use peaceful measures, comply with international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, and not use force in any form,” Russian State Duma Chairman Sergegy Yevgenyevich Naryshkin said at the meeting.
