Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung works with the Vietnam Lawyers Association
On the afternoon of July 16, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and leaders of several central ministries and branches had a working session with leaders of the Vietnam Lawyers Association on the results of implementing Directive No. 06/2001/CT-TTg dated April 9, 2001 of the Prime Minister on implementing measures to promote and improve the effectiveness of the Vietnam Lawyers Association's operations.

Reporting to Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on the results of implementing Directive No. 06/2001/CT-TTg, Chairman of the Vietnam Lawyers Association Pham Quoc Anh said that over the past 11 years, the organization of the Association has continued to be consolidated and developed. The staff working for the Association has been increased in both quantity and quality. Currently, the Vietnam Lawyers Association has 46,000 members. Along with the development in quantity, the Vietnam Lawyers Association always focuses on improving the quality of training in knowledge and skills of Association activities for staff and members.
In the past, the Association has successfully presided over the development of the 2010 Commercial Arbitration Law, and at the same time organized research and contributed opinions to 118 draft laws, ordinances and decrees. It has also effectively implemented the dissemination and education of the law.
At the meeting, the Vietnam Lawyers Association also raised a number of proposals and recommendations to further promote the Association's capacity in participating in policy and law making activities.
Speaking at the meeting, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung highly appreciated the fine traditions and results of the Vietnam Lawyers Association's activities in recent times, which have actively contributed to the country's overall socio-economic development and achievements.
Regarding the Association's future activities, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung suggested that the Vietnam Lawyers Association continue to promote its traditions, overcome limitations; closely coordinate with ministries, branches and localities to contribute more to the work of law-making; building a socialist rule-of-law state; dissemination, education, legal consultancy, legal aid; administrative reform; protecting the legitimate rights and interests of the people; firmly protecting the independence and sovereignty of the Fatherland;...
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung noted that the Vietnam Lawyers Association should continue to pay attention to foreign affairs and international cooperation, contributing to effectively implementing the Party and State's people's foreign policy and enhancing Vietnam's role and position in the international arena. The Government will do its utmost to support the Vietnam Lawyers Association - a special political-social-professional organization - to better perform its functions and tasks.
