Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung receives Chinese Minister of Public Security

On the afternoon of October 23, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung received Chinese State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Meng Jianzhu, who is visiting and working in our country.

Warmly welcoming Minister Meng Jianzhu to visit, work and attend the 3rd Conference on cooperation in crime prevention and control between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Ministry of Public Security of China, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung emphasized that the Vietnamese Government highly appreciated the close coordination and cooperation between the two countries' Ministries of Public Security in recent times, especially the coordination in crime prevention and control in the Vietnam-China border areas; believing that the good cooperation results between the two countries' Ministries of Public Security are a practical contribution to promoting the general cooperation between the two countries in all fields.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung hopes that the two countries' Ministries of Public Security will continue to effectively and more extensively implement cooperation activities in all aspects; affirming that the Vietnamese Government always supports cooperation activities between the two Ministries.

According to Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, Vietnam and China are two friendly neighbors, comrades and brothers; the Vietnam-China relationship has been cultivated by generations of leaders of the two countries; it is the responsibility of the two countries to jointly promote, preserve and develop the bilateral relationship into a better, deeper and more effective one. The Party and State of Vietnam always attach importance to the cooperative relationship with China and will make every effort to work with the Chinese side to further promote the cooperative relationship between the two countries in all fields for the common interests and development of both sides.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung also expressed his gratitude for China's effective support for Vietnam during the past years of fighting for national liberation and reunification as well as in socio-economic construction and development today.

At the reception, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung also emphasized that there are still different perceptions of the Vietnam-China relationship on maritime issues. In the spirit of comradeship, brotherhood and in the spirit of high-level agreements between the two countries, on the basis of international law, the two sides need to discuss and negotiate to find a satisfactory, long-term solution that both sides can accept; not to let the East Sea issue affect the overall cooperative relationship between the two countries.

Expressing his thanks to Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung for taking the time to receive him, Minister Manh Kien Tru said that over the past time, the cooperation between the two countries' Ministries of Public Security has been extremely effective and good. The two sides have closely coordinated in the fight against, prevention and control of crimes such as drug crimes, human trafficking crimes, telecommunications fraud crimes, weapons trafficking crimes, high-tech crimes and many other types of crimes in border areas.

The Chinese Ministry of Public Security will continue to coordinate and cooperate closely with the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security to effectively implement the cooperation agreements that the two sides have agreed upon, contributing to promoting the friendly relations and good traditions between Vietnam and China in all fields, Minister Meng Jianzhu affirmed.

Regarding the East Sea issue, Minister Manh Kien Tru expressed his agreement with Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung's view that the two sides need to discuss and negotiate to find a satisfactory, long-term solution that both sides can accept; he believes that the East Sea issue will not affect the overall Vietnam-China relationship.

Minister Meng Jianzhu also affirmed that he will report the opinions mentioned above by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung to senior Chinese leaders immediately after the Minister returns to the country.
