On the afternoon of July 6, 2012, at the Government Office, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung received Brazilian Foreign Minister Antonio de Aguiar Patriota during his official visit to Vietnam from July 6-7, 2012.

Minister Antonio de Aguiar Patriota expressed his thanks to Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung for taking the time to receive the delegation. The Minister informed that, at the request of Brazilian President Dilma Vana Rousseff, Foreign Minister Antonio de Aguiar Patriota visited Vietnam and asked for an audience with Vietnamese leaders to directly convey the President's message to Vietnamese senior leaders, affirming that President Dilma Vana Rousseff highly values ​​Vietnam, an important member of ASEAN, a dynamic economy, a potential market, a close friend of Brazil, and expressed his desire to work with Vietnam to promote friendship and cooperation within the framework of "Comprehensive Partnership".

Minister Patriota expressed the Brazilian people's admiration for Vietnam's history of fighting for national liberation and protecting national sovereignty, and their admiration for President Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam's national hero, who was a great inspiration to the Brazilian people.

The Minister highly appreciated Vietnam’s achievements in Innovation, socio-economic development and poverty reduction; expressed his desire to promote cooperation in potential areas of both sides such as energy, biofuel, science and technology, culture, sports, etc.

The Minister affirmed that Brazil will cooperate closely with Vietnam at international organizations and multilateral forums; expressed concern about the situation in Southeast Asia and peace, stability and security in the East Sea.

The Prime Minister said that the growth rate of bilateral economic and trade relations in recent times is remarkable, but not commensurate with the potential of each country; he suggested that the two governments coordinate and support to create conditions for ministries, sectors, localities and enterprises to strengthen direct partnerships.

* On the same day, Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh held talks with Foreign Minister Antonio de Aguiar Patriota to discuss bilateral relations and international and regional issues of mutual concern.

The two Ministers agreed to promote the exchange of delegations at all levels between the two countries; maintain regular and effective operations of the Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee and the political consultation mechanism between the two Foreign Ministries; soon sign the Framework Agreement on Technical Cooperation, the Agreement on Educational Cooperation and the Memorandum of Understanding on Agricultural Cooperation; and strengthen cooperation within the framework of South-South and Trilateral cooperation.

Minister Patriota congratulated Vietnam on successfully organizing the Vietnam-Latin America Forum on Trade and Investment (July 5-6, 2012). Minister Pham Binh Minh thanked Brazil for its active participation, contributing to the success of the event.
