The new Vietnamese Prime Minister confirmed that he will attend the expanded G7 summit in Japan at the end of May and may hold talks with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc confirmed this yesterday when receiving Japanese Ambassador Fukada Hiroshi to congratulate and discuss measures to promote relations between the two countries, VNA reported.
The G7 Summit and the G7 Summit will take place inMie Prefecture on May 26 and 27. US President Barack Obama and leaders of Britain, Canada, France, Germany, and Italy will attend.
Prime Minister Phuc expressed his hope that Vietnam and Japan could have in-depth discussions on strengthening their strategic partnership through bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the conference.
“Vietnam will do its utmost to continue to work with Japan to develop the cooperative relationship in all fields more strongly and extensively. The two sides will also strengthen dialogue mechanisms, closely coordinate and support each other in regional and international forums for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world,” said the Prime Minister.
Ambassador Hiroshi said that Japan expects Prime Minister Phuc and his counterpart Shinzo Abe to hold bilateral talks on the sidelines of the conference, promoting cooperation between the two countries not only in the economic field but also in many other fields for peace and stability.
According to himHiroshi, Japan has conducted a field survey on Vietnam's response to salinity intrusion in the Mekong Delta, Central and Central Highlands. Japan hopes to promote cooperation and support Vietnam in improving its capacity to respond to this challenge.
