On the evening of June 4, the Prime Minister and his wife, along with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, visited and talked with officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and the Vietnamese community in Japan.

Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Cuong reported to the delegation on the work, business and study situation of Vietnamese people here.

Currently, Vietnam has about 200,000 people living, working and studying in Japan, of which the number of international students is the highest in the world with more than 60,000 people.

"This is like the second Eastern Journey" - Professor Tran Van Tho compared at the meeting, wanting to compare with the first Eastern Journey initiated by Phan Boi Chau in the early 20th century.

Professor Tho - who was recently invited by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc to join the Prime Minister's advisory group, congratulated the success of the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation's visit to the United States, and believes that this visit to Japan will also be a great success.

"My wish is that the US and Japan will invest more strongly in Vietnam, because they are countries with very strong science and technology," Mr. Tho expressed.

In response, the Prime Minister announced the good results of his official visit to the United States. President Donald Trump and senior US leaders happily exchanged and received further explanations about the benefits of the Vietnam-US trade relationship.

"We seek new ways and new methods of cooperation that are mutually beneficial," said the Prime Minister.

He continued: “Our visit to Japan this time is 3 in 1: an official visit, attending and speaking at the Asia Future Conference, and organizing the largest investment promotion conference ever with 1,500 business leaders from both countries registered to participate.”

The Prime Minister emphasized the extensive comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and Japan, expressing his wish to welcome a new wave of Japanese investment in Vietnam.

“In more than a year as Prime Minister, Japanese Prime Minister Abe and I have held talks four times at different forums. The King and Queen visited Vietnam earlier this year. This November, Prime Minister Abe will attend the APEC Summit and pay an official visit to Vietnam. We have built a trustworthy political relationship,” Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc emphasized.

In front of the international students, the Prime Minister advised them to try to learn from Japan, because Japan is a country with the most advanced education, science and technology in the world. Not only learning about knowledge, Japanese culture is also worth learning.

On the same afternoon, the Prime Minister began his first activities in Japan with meetings and discussions with the governor of Ibaraki province, the CEO of JBIC bank and Representative Tsuyoshi Yaguchi - Chairman of the Security Committee of the Japanese House of Representatives.

Japan is a country that has suffered many natural disasters and catastrophes, but the Japanese have built a wonderful culture that helps them persevere and develop strongly. In 2011, when there was an earthquake and tsunami in Japan, we saw how the Japanese people lined up in order, and the image of a child giving his food to the elderly was very touching.
