Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh: Overseas Vietnamese community is the country's asset
The Prime Minister emphasized that the Vietnamese community abroad is an asset to the country. Each overseas Vietnamese is an ambassador, an important bridge in promoting the friendly relations between the two countries.
On the evening of November 16 local time (early morning of November 17 Vietnam time), during his working trip to attend the G20 Summit in Brazil, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife spent time meeting with officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and the Vietnamese community.
Reporting to the Prime Minister, Vietnamese Ambassador to Brazil Bui Van Nghi said that the Prime Minister's attendance at the G20 Summit is an important milestone, right on the occasion of the two countries celebrating the 35th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations and the 17th anniversary of establishing the Comprehensive Partnership.
In particular, the Prime Minister's visit to Brazil in 2023 has created great momentum in the relationship between the two countries in all fields, notably trade reaching 7.11 billion USD in 2023, 5.8 billion USD in the first 9 months of 2024 and possibly reaching 10 billion USD in 2025 as the set target.

Mr. Vu Minh Ha (military student at the Brazilian Army Academy) shared that during their time studying here, Vietnamese international students have access to advanced education and many modern research achievements.
Emphasizing that the mission of military students abroad is not only to study but also to cultivate morality and practice political qualities, Mr. Ha pledged to continuously study to become a military officer who is both red and professional, bringing the knowledge learned in Brazil back to build and protect the Fatherland.
Ms. Pham Hong Trang (Head of the Vietnam Trade Office in Brazil) said that Brazil is one of Vietnam's most important trade partners in the Americas. To date, Vietnam's trade turnover with Brazil ranks second in the Americas, just behind the US.
Recently, the drastic and close direction of the Government and the Prime Minister has contributed to promoting bilateral economic and trade relations between the two countries.
"Respond to all changes with the constant"
Summarizing the domestic situation, the Prime Minister emphasized three strategic breakthroughs: Institutions, infrastructure, and high-quality human resources. “Institutions must be open, infrastructure must be smooth, and governance must be smart,” the head of government emphasized.
The Prime Minister also announced that this year the GDP scale will reach 470 billion USD, GDP per capita will reach 4,700 USD. The macro economy is stable, major balances are ensured...

Assuring overseas Vietnamese that our foreign affairs activities are very balanced, the Prime Minister said that recently when Mr. Donald Trump was elected President of the United States, during a phone call with General Secretary To Lam, he assessed that the Vietnam-US relationship is excellent.
Noting that US policy under Mr. Trump will change, the Prime Minister said that we must adapt, "respond to all changes with the constant" to create an environment of peace and cooperation for development.
Regarding Latin American countries, including Brazil, the Prime Minister said that the two sides have many similarities and are very potential markets in the context of Vietnam promoting the diversification of markets, products and supply chains, and promoting negotiations on free trade agreements.
The Prime Minister recalled the opportunity 112 years ago when Uncle Ho stopped in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, while searching for a way to save the country. This was also the foundation for the relationship between the two countries.
The Head of Government said that during this working trip, the leaders of the two countries will discuss enhancing relations, including promoting the signing of a free trade agreement as well as promoting cooperation in many other fields.
This is one of the things promoted after the Prime Minister's official visit to Brazil last September.
Every overseas Vietnamese is an ambassador
Affirming that the Vietnam-Brazil relationship is very good, the Prime Minister hopes that overseas Vietnamese here will be a bridge to bring their family and relatives here to study, do business and live.
“The overseas Vietnamese community is an asset to the country. Each overseas Vietnamese is an ambassador, an important bridge in promoting the friendly relations between the two countries,” the head of the Government emphasized.

The Prime Minister requested the Vietnamese Embassy in Brazil to perform its duties well, connect with overseas Vietnamese, promote the spirit of solidarity, help each other overcome difficulties, and ensure the legitimate rights and interests of Vietnamese people abroad.
In particular, the Embassy needs to soon promote the formation of the Association of Vietnamese People in Brazil, building a united and developed Vietnamese community in Brazil, always looking towards the homeland and country.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the policy of our Party and State is to always care for the Vietnamese community abroad in general and our compatriots in Brazil in particular, an inseparable part of the Vietnamese ethnic community.
Reporting further to the Prime Minister, Ambassador Bui Van Nghi said that the South American region still has a lot of potential in all fields, including Suriname (the smallest country in South America, speaking Dutch).
The Ambassador recently presented his credentials in Suriname and went there "looking everywhere you can see money making opportunities" but few people go there. This is a very suitable land for Vietnamese businesses because they need labor.
Currently, there are 700 - 800 people from Nghe An and Ha Tinh working as fishermen here and they have all developed very quickly into bosses. This country also needs capital, the population is very small so it needs labor, while the resources are rich, there are many rivers. Suriname has great potential for exploiting aquatic and seafood products for export to the Netherlands because it enjoys a 0% tax mechanism.
This country also has very rich forests. If we can bring Vietnamese people and businesses to export wood to Europe, it will be very convenient.
“We have discussed with them and can provide 25 workers for the pilot program. They also promised to bring their wives, children and parents so they can settle down and make a living,” the Ambassador said.
