“I have submitted the names to the King, waiting for his approval,” Prime Minister Prayuth told reporters, without giving details on the date of the cabinet reshuffle. He also did not reveal any names in his own new cabinet.
Prayuth Chan-ocha, who was head of the army when the military coup took place in May 2014, was appointed prime minister by the Thai parliament in August 2014 in a 15-minute parliamentary election. Since taking office, he has been under pressure due to Thailand's shaky economy and a cabinet reshuffle.
The news of the cabinet reshuffle was announced one day after a massive bomb blast in central Bangkok, Thailand, killed many people, including foreigners.
