On November 28, Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra easily survived a vote of no confidence amid growing anti-government protests since political unrest three years ago.

In theory, Ms. Yingluck only needed more than half (equivalent to 246 votes) of the 492 votes in the House of Representatives to win a vote of no confidence. In fact, she won 297 votes in favor, with 134 votes against.

Her Puea Thai Party, which holds 299 seats in the House of Representatives, easily survived a three-day debate after the opposition accused Yingluck’s government of spending 3.5 billion baht ($108 million) on a water management program and mistakes in its rice subsidy policy./.
