Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim made the statement after President Recep Tayyip Erdogan sent an apology to Russia for the incident that damaged relations between the two countries.
However, Mr. Yildirim's statement today contradicts a statement he made on June 27 on the online television channel TRT, in which he said that Türkiye would compensate Russia "if necessary."
Mr. Yildirim also said President Erdogan will talk to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin this week, aiming to strengthen the relationship between the two countries, which have also had many tensions related to the war in Syria.
Prime Minister Yildirim also said legal proceedings are underway against an individual accused of being responsible for the death of the Russian pilot.
Türkiye has long refused to apologize for the incident, claiming the Russian plane entered its airspace despite its warnings.
However, Russia asserted that its aircraft did not cross the border between the two countries and accused Türkiye of "deliberate provocation".
