Prime Minister receives US Secretary of Health and Human Welfare
The two countries pledged to continue close cooperation and effectively implement the newly signed Agreement.
On the afternoon of June 17, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung received US Secretary of Health and Human Services - Kathleen Sebelius, who is on a working visit to Vietnam.
Welcoming Ms. Kathleen Sebelius to visit Vietnam, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung highly appreciated the talks between Minister Kathleen Sebelius and Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien and the agreements reached during this visit, especially the Health and Medical Science Agreement between the two Governments that was just signed, which will make an important contribution to promoting cooperation between the two countries.

Thanking the United States for supporting Vietnam in HIV/AIDS prevention, avian influenza prevention, training of medical staff, etc., Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung hopes that the US Secretary of Health and Human Services and the Vietnamese Ministry of Health will continue to cooperate closely, effectively implement the recently signed Agreement as well as support human resource training for the Vietnamese health sector. The Prime Minister also asked the United States to continue to support Vietnam financially and technically in HIV/AIDS prevention, cooperation in controlling avian influenza, etc.
Thanking the Prime Minister for taking the time to meet her, Ms. Kathleen Sebelius emphasized that the US and Vietnamese health sectors have a very close relationship through the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, especially in HIV/AIDS prevention and control, and prevention of emerging diseases such as SARS, avian flu, etc.
Appreciating Vietnam in disease prevention, Ms. Kathleen Sebelius affirmed that the United States is committed to closely cooperating with Vietnam in preventing and combating emerging diseases, especially infectious diseases, and transferring technology to Vietnam in preventing HIV/AIDS./.
