Welcoming Mr. Michael BG Froman to visit and work in Vietnam, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung emphasized that the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP) is an important foundation in promoting cooperative relations between parties, including Vietnam and the United States.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung stated that as a member of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA), Vietnam always fulfills its commitments, actively implements a market economy, and deeply integrates with the world economy for rapid and sustainable development.
To achieve the goal of negotiating the TPP Agreement, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung affirmed that Vietnam will cooperate closely with the United States in this process and suggested that there should be flexibility appropriate to the development level of each country; in which attention should be paid to Vietnam's core interests, which is consistent with the viewpoint of the leaders of the TPP member countries towards an Agreement that balances the interests of the members.
In the spirit of trust and support, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung hopes that in negotiations, the United States will consider Vietnam's practical conditions, especially access to the textile and footwear market, to reach an agreement that is acceptable to both sides.
Thanking Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung for taking the time to meet him, Mr. Michael BG Froman emphasized that the successful negotiation of the TPP Agreement will be a milestone in promoting cooperation between the United States and Vietnam, especially in the fields of economics, trade and investment.
Appreciating Vietnam's efforts in TPP negotiations, Mr. Michael BG Froman said that although there are still areas that need to be discussed, with goodwill between the two sides, the United States and Vietnam will reach a specific agreement that both sides can accept.
