Prime Minister requests investigation to clarify the cause of the Carina apartment fire

On the morning of March 23, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc sent an urgent dispatch to the authorities regarding the fire at Carina Plaza apartment building at 1648 Vo Van Kiet Street, Ward 16, District 8, Ho Chi Minh City, which killed 13 people and injured dozens.

On behalf of the Government, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc sent his deepest condolences to the victims and their relatives.

At the same time, the Prime Minister also directed the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to urgently organize visits, encourage and take timely measures to support the families of the deceased and injured; and focus on overcoming the consequences of the fire.

The Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Public Security and the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to direct functional forces to investigate and clarify the cause of the fire, strictly handle violations in accordance with the law; strengthen propaganda, guidance, and fire prevention and fighting drills; regularly inspect and review facilities at high risk of fire in the area, especially high-rise apartment buildings with dense populations, promptly detect, correct, and remedy violations, and resolutely suspend or terminate operations of facilities that do not ensure fire prevention and fighting safety.

In case of serious violations, criminal liability must be considered and prosecuted according to the provisions of law./.
