Valencia entered the second leg with little hope of progressing after losing 0-3 to Basel in the first leg. However, instead of giving up, the Spanish representative fought back fiercely and scored 3 goals in the official 90 minutes. This was a match where the referee had to repeatedly blow the whistle after fierce tackles from both sides. In total, he issued 12 yellow cards and 2 red cards. The players who scored for the home team were Francisco Alcacer (38', 70') and Eduardo Vargas (42').

The result forced the two teams to play extra time to decide the winner. During this time, Basel continued to show weakness when they received 2 more red cards (Marcelo Diaz, 100' and Gaston Sauro, 105') and conceded 2 goals. After Francisco Alcacer completed his hat-trick in the 113th minute, Juan Bernat scored the final goal (118') to end a terrible night for the team from Switzerland.

Moving to the Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium, also in Spain, Porto's one-goal lead in the first leg against Sevilla was erased by the referee after just five minutes of the return leg. After an unclear foul by Danilo on Carlos Bacca in the penalty area, referee Gianluca Rocchi awarded Sevilla a penalty. Rakitic converted the penalty and levelled the aggregate score at 1-1.

Sevilla played a very effective game: Porto organized a relatively good defense, and the home team only had 5 shots in the whole first half (including the penalty). However, 3 of those shots turned into goals. Vitolo made it 2-0 in the 26th minute and just 4 minutes later Carlos Bacca scored Sevilla's third.

Although Sevilla lost a man at the start of the second half after Coke received a red card, they still played a very effective counter-attacking game and scored the fourth goal through Gameiro in the 79th minute. Porto were eliminated with a total score of 2-4, in a weak match in which they had 10 shots but missed the target all 10 times. It was not until the 90+2 minute that Porto got an honorary goal from a beautiful shot by Quaresma.

In the Juventus-Lyon match, the score was also opened very early, in the 4th minute the home team scored a goal from a classy free kick by Andrea Pirlo. But Lyon's hope was rekindled just 14 minutes later: from a cross by Mvuemba, Jimmy Briand had a beautiful header to equalize the score.

Both teams then played cautiously and few chances were created. Juventus, who had the better of their chances, ended Lyon's hopes in the 68th minute, with a somewhat fortunate goal from Marchisio. The final score was 2-1, meaning Juventus progressed 3-1 on aggregate.

In the Benfica-AZ match, the Dutch representative was still completely outclassed by the Portuguese giant. Throughout the match, they were constantly besieged and conceded 2 more goals after a double from Rodrigo. Benfica advanced with a total score of 3-0.
