Promoting gender equality in education and training

(Baonghean.vn) - On August 26, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs coordinated with the Department of Education and Training to organize a training course on improving skills in implementing gender equality work in the field of education and training.

Attending the training course were more than 100 trainees who are leaders and specialists in charge of gender equality work of 21 Departments of Education and Training of districts, cities and towns in the province and leaders of some specialized departments and offices of the Department of Education and Training.

Comrade Vi Ngoc Quynh, Deputy Director of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs delivered the opening speech.

Gender equality is an issue of particular concern to all countries. In Vietnam, the Law on Gender Equality has been in effect since 2007. Thereby, gradually narrowing the gender gap, improving the position of women in a number of unequal fields, contributing to the implementation of the National Strategy on Gender Equality.

The training course to improve skills in implementing gender equality work in the field of education and training was organized to equip key staff with knowledge of gender equality law and gender equality issues in education and training.

The class will be taught by lecturers from the Vietnam Association of Social Psychology. During the 1-day course, the class will focus on topics such as: Gender mainstreaming in education and training, identifying gender issues in educational institutions, implementing gender-responsive activities, life skills education and early detection of children with disabilities, etc.
