To follow a 10-day detox diet, Dr. Jeffrey Morrison, author of Cleanse Your Body, Clear Your Mind and director of a wellness center in New York (USA), recommends following two steps:
Step 1: Eliminate unhealthy foods
To detox, you need to eliminate all processed foods, coffee, alcohol, grains, soy, and raw fish. Additionally, if possible, you should also avoid tomatoes.
Step 2: Choose healthy foods
Dr. Morrison typically prepares a rice and fiber shake for breakfast, followed by a shake and salad for lunch, and protein and vegetables for dinner.
If you're detoxing at home, you might have a fried egg and a piece of fruit (like an apple) for breakfast, lean meat and vegetables for lunch, and finally grilled chicken breast or salmon with grilled or steamed vegetables for dinner.
In case you are a vegetarian, doctors recommend adding a cup of lentils or black beans to increase your protein intake.
