Strictly implement population policy - family planning

(Baonghean.vn) -On the afternoon of January 7, 2014, under the chairmanship of Comrade Dinh Thi Le Thanh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, the Provincial Steering Committee for Population and Family Planning held a meeting to summarize activities in 2013 and deploy tasks in 2014.

In 2013, thanks to the impact of new policies and guidelines on population and family planning, the participation of all levels and sectors, and the promotion of communication work, the province's population work has achieved positive results, with many targets reaching and exceeding the plan. In particular, a communication campaign to mobilize the provision of reproductive health care/family planning services was implemented in 468 communes, reaching 236% of the plan. Projects on improving population quality such as the project on population control in coastal and coastal areas, the project on prenatal and newborn screening, the project on pre-marital reproductive health examination and counseling... continued to be implemented in many localities with thousands of beneficiaries.

By the end of the year, the number of children born decreased by 1,836 compared to 2012, the crude birth rate was 18.08%o, down 0.77%o compared to 2012 and reached 154% of the plan. The number of children born as the third child or more was 10,223, down 541, the birth rate of the third child or more was 17.82%, down 0.36%. The sex ratio at birth was 115 boys/100 girls, reaching 104% of the target... However, the situation of population policy violations was still high with 9,442 people (of which 557 were cadres and party members) but decreased by 787 people compared to the previous year and there were 5,912 cases of violations handled.

After listening to the opinions of the members of the Steering Committee, the positive aspects and the existing limitations, comrade Dinh Thi Le Thanh said: In 2013, the population sector and the Steering Committee made many efforts and innovations in the management, bringing the work of population and family planning to achieve many positive results. In 2014, in addition to promoting the achieved results, it is necessary to enhance the responsibility of the members of the Steering Committee, assign responsibilities of the members of the Steering Committee in association with departments and branches; overcome the existing limitations, especially in the branches and units with high rates of population policy violations. Strengthen propaganda and mobilization work with many forms, suitable for each region and each subject, strengthen inspection and supervision work, and sign commitments. In addition, based on the experience of 10 years summarizing the Population Ordinance, it is necessary to strengthen the leadership role, overcome the lax management of unit leaders, strictly implement the province's regulations on population policy, and ensure safe, convenient, and adequate service supply sources.
