Do a good job of career orientation
(Baonghean) Opinion of teacher Vo Hoang Ngoc - Principal of Dang Thai Mai Secondary School (Vinh City) at the Workshop on the role of the People's Council in creating financial mechanisms and policies to promote the development of education and training.
There is a reality that we have talked a lot about for a long time about Nghe An's human resources: there are too many teachers and not enough workers. One of the basic reasons is that career guidance in high schools is currently very poor, because the requirements of society for the professions that schools do not understand and have not grasped firmly, so they do it just to get through the day.
As for vocational guidance and training centers, they only focus on training. Therefore, vocational guidance and training workIt is only emotional, following trends and lack of workers is natural. As for students, they do not know the vocational system in society and cannot determine their own abilities to pursue.
So, the question now is which organization or unit should be assigned to do career guidance to achieve the highest efficiency, avoiding the current situation of only wanting to be teachers and not workers?
Firstly, district-level vocational guidance, training and vocational training centers are units that regularly update the system and needs of occupations in society to conduct training to attract learners and have jobs after the course, creating prestige and training effectiveness. Therefore, vocational guidance for high school students should be assigned to these centers to coordinate with schools to do it more in-depth. Secondly, for these centers to do well in vocational guidance, the province needs to create mechanisms, policies, and create resources for the centers to do it.
In reality, Nghe An students have limited English. It is necessary to clearly realize that English is learned to use, not to know. Therefore, the province also needs to have an investment policy to upgrade facilities and equipment for teaching English and focus on selecting and training a team of truly good teachers, only then can we hope to improve the quality of English learning. In particular, we must focus on investing in urban areas at international standards, not following the model of "the whole village" learning a foreign language.
