The victim was identified as Nguyen Van Thung (20 years old, son of Mr. Kien).
According to initial information, at that time, Mr. Thung was making fireworks in the attic waiting on the second floor when it suddenly exploded.
Hearing the cries for help, some people living nearby ran over and found Mr. Thung lying motionless under the rubble. Immediately after that, Mr. Thung was quickly taken to Nghe An General Hospital for emergency treatment by his relatives.
At the scene, the waiting room on the second floor where Mr. Thung made firecrackers completely collapsed, bricks and stones were scattered everywhere. The roof of the nearby kitchen, which was covered with corrugated iron sheets, almost collapsed, and the smell of explosives was strong.
Ms. T., a resident living nearby, said, “At around 8 p.m., while my family was watching TV, we were suddenly startled by a loud explosion, shaking our house. After that, the whole family ran outside and heard that Mr. Kien’s son was seriously injured due to making explosive firecrackers.”
At the hospital, doctors said that Mr. Thung suffered multiple injuries, including a broken left wrist, two legs, two eyes, and a crushed left hand. Due to the severity of his injuries, Mr. Thung was transferred to Hanoi for emergency treatment immediately afterwards.
