Pity the family of 5 children who died of muscular dystrophy

July 8, 2013 20:38

(Baonghean.vn) -With each child lost, Mr. Trieu and his wife feel more heartache. Now he only has two children who also have to take medicine and treat illnesses every day.

When we went to Tan Thanh commune, Yen Thanh asked about the family situation of Mr. Le Van Trieu (born in 1963) and Ms. Tang Thi Sinh (born in 1964) in hamlet 1 - Tan Dong, everyone knew. A local shared with us: "Poor couple, their children kept passing away due to muscular dystrophy, and the family's situation was very difficult."

We visited Mr. Trieu's family when he and his wife had just come home from work and were having lunch. When he saw us coming in, he quickly put down his bowls and chopsticks and invited us into the house.

Seeing a new altar in a small corner of the house, I managed to ask him: “That is the altar of Thanh, born in 1998, the fifth child. He passed away almost 100 days ago due to muscular dystrophy, uncle!”

Duc's daily life depends on his parents.

Ms. Sinh (Mr. Trieu's wife) added that he and his wife got married in 1983 and had 7 children. They were all healthy and normal when they were born, but when they were 7 or 8 months old, their legs and arms began to atrophy. Confiding in us, the short, skinny man would occasionally wipe away his tears. There is no greater pain than seeing his children die one by one due to illness.

Currently, only Le Van Duc (born in 1996) and Le Van Dat (born in 2004, studying in grade 3 at Tan Thanh Primary School) remain in the house. "Dat can still go to school, but Duc depends on his mother for all his personal activities. He is getting weaker and weaker, unable to walk, only crawling on the floor." - Mr. Trieu looked at Duc and shared.

The home of Mr. Trieu and his wife is increasingly deserted.

Mr. Trieu and his wife depend only on 5 sao of rice fields and wages earned during the off-season. Medicine for his children also depends on that. Currently, he and his wife have borrowed more than 10 million VND from relatives and friends to pay for medicine and education for their children.

Talking about the situation of Mr. Trieu's family, Mr. Tran Duy Liem - Chairman of the People's Committee of Tan Thanh Commune, Yen Thanh District said: "Mr. Trieu's family is one of the particularly difficult households in the commune, the locality always creates conditions for his family. Hopefully, there will be many kind-hearted people coming to share with situations like Mr. Trieu's family."
