Similar to Michelin's "stars", the Superior Taste Award recognizes and ranks food and beverage products according to 3 levels - corresponding to the number of stars awarded. Accordingly, the highest level of product is 3 stars - meaning a premium delicacy, exceeding expectations (rating from 90% or more); a 2-star product is an excellent delicacy (scoring 80-90% of the criteria) and a 1-star product is a typical delicacy (scoring 70-80% of the criteria).

Specifically, products will be scored based on 5 international Hedonic sensory analysis criteria (AFNOR XP V096A), including: first impression, sight, smell, taste and texture (for food) or final feeling or aftertaste (for beverages).

Notably, this year's award for the first time featured two milk products with the highest 3-star rating from Vietnam, Ong Tho condensed milk and Vinamilk Super Nut 9-grain milk. While Ong Tho condensed milk is a product known as a "national" brand that has accompanied and been associated with many generations of Vietnamese people for more than 47 years, Super Nut is a "newcomer" that has only been launched for more than a year. These are all Vinamilk's best-selling products today.
