US senator says Republicans divided on Ukraine issue
(Baonghean.vn) - US Senator Lindsey Graham told CNN that the Republican Party is divided on the issue of Ukraine. Mr. Graham declared that he will not vote for any aid "until the border" of the US is secured.
Former US national security adviser John Bolton said Washington must not disappoint Ukraine or it will lose to Russia. Meanwhile, Senator Lindsey Graham stressed that no additional aid should be sent to Ukraine “until it strengthens” the southern border of the United States. The opposing positions of the two Republicans were raised in an interview over the weekend.

“It is important that we act quickly and get additional assistance to Ukraine,” said Bolton, an adviser to President Donald Trump. “If we don’t help the Ukrainians, Russia will ultimately win,” he warned. Bolton said U.S. lawmakers should pressure the White House to come up with a “winning strategy” for Ukraine.
Ukraine’s Western-backed counteroffensive has failed to make a major breakthrough, with Moscow estimating Kiev’s losses at more than 125,000 troops in six months. While the US and its allies say they intend to maintain the flow of aid, political divisions and other pressing issues, such as the Middle East crisis, as well as a general sense of “Ukraine fatigue,” are posing a problem for Kiev’s long-term prospects.
Senator Lindsey Graham told CNN that Republicans are divided on Ukraine. Graham said he would not vote for any aid “until we secure the border.” Illegal immigration is a hot-button issue for Republicans, who hold a slim majority in the House.

"I will not help Ukraine until we help ourselves," the senator stressed. Russia has long insisted it wants to resolve the conflict diplomatically and accused Western nations of obstructing it.
Ukrainian MP David Arakhamia, who led the Ukrainian delegation to Türkiye-hosted peace talks last year, recently accused then-British Prime Minister Boris Johnson of derailing the talks.
