Asked if he supported additional sanctions on Russia, Senator Graham said: “100%. I would support President Trump being tougher on Russia than Obama was. There’s no question about it, that’s very clear. You know, arming Ukraine, expelling diplomats, imposing tougher sanctions than Obama. But it didn’t work, they’re still trying to interfere in our elections.”
The US lawmaker pointed out that on July 27, President Donald Trump met with the US National Security Council, ordering them to “strengthen the US election infrastructure against Russia and other actors in preparation for the 2018 election”.
Graham also welcomed Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s statement that he supports tougher sanctions on Russia. The South Carolina senator added that he plans to introduce a new set of sanctions in Congress. “I’m going to put tough sanctions on Russia because what we’re doing is not working,” he concluded.
