Bonus for the task force that destroyed the 'huge' drug factory
Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan said that solving the case not only prevented harm to thousands and tens of thousands of people but also served as a great lesson for the Ho Chi Minh City Police.
On the afternoon of June 2, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan and a delegation of leaders of the Party Committee visited the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department headquarters to visit, encourage and reward the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department for their outstanding achievements in dismantling the largest drug production case in Vietnam.
Strengthening trust in the police
Secretary Nhan said that the case had been going on for a long time, and many soldiers had to stick to it with many hardships and sacrifices. “This is an exceptionally outstanding achievement, not only meaning preventing a large-scale production ring that has harmed thousands and tens of thousands of Vietnamese people, especially the young generation, but also a great lesson for the Ho Chi Minh City Police that if we are confident and determined, we can eradicate this evil,” he said. The Secretary also noted that we should not be subjective because “Ho Chi Minh City is not only a transit point but also a place for drug production.”
Lieutenant General Le Dong Phong - Director of Ho Chi Minh City Police, said that after nearly a year of collecting documents and expanding the fight, the police have successfully solved the case, contributing to strengthening people's trust in the police force. "On behalf of the Party Committee and the Board of Directors of Ho Chi Minh City Police, I warmly commend your achievements. I hope you will promote the results you have achieved and continue to achieve more outstanding achievements in the fight against crime and ensuring security and order," said Mr. Phong.

Regarding the process of solving the case, Major General Phan Anh Minh - Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Police, summarized: The role of the Binh Thanh District Police force is very important. "Since the discovery, suspecting this is a large network, I agreed to raise it to a city-level special case" - Major General Minh said.
The Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Police shared: After discovering the source and location of supply, Binh Thanh District Police tracked down the villa in Trung Son area. However, this area is very difficult to access because there are always guards and security cameras monitoring. "The detectives took the electricity bill and discovered that the ventilation fan smelled of chemicals. From there, they identified the drug production site in this area," Mr. Phan Anh Minh recalled.
He said that near Tet, the suspects in the ring were still moving their production sites and the detectives had to work hard to follow them. “During this process, a detective who had just graduated two years ago discovered the group of suspects driving a truck towards the West and immediately followed them on a motorbike. When the truck carrying the packaging to dispose of the evidence stopped at the riverbank in Chau Thanh district (Dong Thap), the detective turned off the lights and approached, but fell off his bike and broke his leg. He was not deterred but left his bike, crawled to approach and reported to the command. When his teammates arrived and handed over the matter, he agreed to go to the emergency room,” said the deputy director of Ho Chi Minh City Police.
According to Major General Minh, after more than a year of pursuing the case, the task force has so far arrested 15 people, identifying the ringleader as Van Kinh Duong (36 years old, living in Hanoi). In addition to the huge amount of drugs worth 200 billion VND, the police have seized eight luxury cars, 10 billion VND in cash, and real estate in Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang... estimated at about 60 billion VND.
Ho Chi Minh City police also said that there are currently many loopholes in the management of chemicals and precursors used in drug production, even though there are many units controlling these chemicals.
As we have reported, on April 6, after more than a year of establishing a special project, the police deployed 200 officers and soldiers to simultaneously search 13 locations including drug factories and the homes of 15 suspects in Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Nha Trang, and Hanoi. By the late night of April 7, the arrests and searches were basically completed.
Drug factory in Dong Nai near the house of two deputy commune police officers To cover his tracks, Van Kinh Duong had someone open another drug "factory" at the house of his cousin Nguyen Duc Ky Nam in Hamlet 5, Tra Co Commune, Tan Phu District, Dong Nai. Nam's bungalow is located at the end of a small alley, about 400 meters from the main road. The road is rocky and rocky, with tall grass on both sides. Nam's house is surrounded by pepper fields and local fruit trees.(image). According to neighbor Nguyen Truong G., Nam bought the land more than 10 years ago, and together with his wife and children, he grows pepper and raises pigs. Nam is very friendly and cheerful with his neighbors. "For nearly two years now, Nam and his wife have said that they are working for a company in Ho Chi Minh City, leaving the pepper garden for the neighbors to look after and harvest. Sometimes Nam and his wife come home on an old motorbike, but they only leave for a day or two," said Mr. G. According to neighbors, at the end of 2016 they saw a truck carrying machinery and many plastic boxes come to Nam’s house and this person said: “The company’s machines were broken and brought back for repair. We didn’t know they were producing drugs.” What's special is that the alley leading to Nam's house is the home of two deputy police officers of Tra Co commune, and they had no idea that this was a huge drug factory. "After Nam was arrested, a re-check showed that this person did not have a local household registration, nor did he register for temporary residence," said a deputy commune police officer. No one in the commune thought that Nam had turned his house into a drug factory until Nam was arrested. |
