Thuong Son (Do Luong): Forest fires continue to occur
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of May 25, 2014, a large forest fire continued to break out in Thuong Son commune, Do Luong district. Immediately after discovering the forest fire, Thuong Son commune mobilized police, militia and people from all hamlets to put out the fire.
Due to the prolonged heat, the entire forest was dry, and on the other hand, the vegetation cover in the pine forest area of Thuong Son commune was 20-30 cm thick, causing the fire to flare up fiercely. Although the temperature reached 38 degrees Celsius, the forest rangers, the district police, and the district military command made efforts to put out the fire. To promptly put out the fire, the Do Luong district fire prevention and control committee mobilized forces from Tan Son, Thai Son, Quang Son, and Hien Son communes to support. By 2:00 p.m. the same day, the forest fire in Thuong Son had complicated developments, and the fire spread more widely. The district fire prevention and control committee mobilized officers and soldiers of the 324th Division Battalion and the provincial fire prevention and control force to put out the fire.
Along with the timely organization of fire fighting, the Provincial and District Fire Prevention and Control Committees closely coordinated with the forces to cut firebreaks and demarcate each fire area to limit the spread of the fire. During the forest fire in Thuong Son, it can be said that the forces participating in the fire fighting such as: Police, Military, Militia and Self-Defense Forces, Forest Rangers and especially the soldiers of Division 324 used their weapons to rescue the forest at the most difficult time when the fire broke out fiercely.

With the efforts of the Thuong Son people and other forces to put out the forest fire, by 4:30 p.m., the fire was completely extinguished. It is worth mentioning that in the past few days, there have been two serious forest fires in Thuong Son commune, causing great damage to the forest, mainly pine and cajuput forests.
Currently, the weather is complicated, agencies, units, communes, and forest owners need to do a good job of implementing fire prevention and control measures such as: standing guard at watchtowers to detect and mobilize forces to put out fires in a timely manner, when completing the forest fire fighting, it is necessary to maintain forces on duty on site to detect and prevent forest fires from recurring.
