Ban Ve Hydropower Plant generates 5 billion kWh
(Baonghean.vn)-After 10 years of construction and more than 4 years of operation, Ban Ve 9T]uong Duong Hydropower Plant has reached an output of 5 billion kw/h, marking an important milestone in the construction and development of Ban Ve Hydropower Company, a member of Vietnam Electricity Group. It is even more meaningful when this year, Vietnam Electricity Group celebrates the 60th anniversary of the Electricity Industry's traditional day on December 21.

The Ban Ve Hydropower Plant construction project was started on August 7, 2004 with an installed capacity of 320 MW on the Nam Non River in Yen Na Commune, Tuong Duong District. It is the largest hydropower project in the North Central region. This is a multi-purpose project with the main task of generating electricity to the national grid, providing water for daily life, production, repelling salinity, and preventing floods in the downstream area of Lam River.
The project has a large number of migrants with more than 3,020 households and nearly 15,000 people, mainly ethnic minorities in communes located in Tuong Duong and Ky Son districts; households that have to be relocated by the project are arranged to resettle in Thanh Chuong district and relocate to resettlement sites in Tuong Duong and Ky Son districts. With a very large number of resettlement compensation, but under the direction of the province, the coordination with local authorities, the construction of infrastructure and housing in resettlement areas is carried out synchronously according to plan, ensuring the right progress, meeting the basic requirements of people to feel secure in their new place of residence.

With great efforts, on April 10, 2010, Unit 1 officially generated electricity, Ban Ve Hydropower Plant officially connected to the national grid and after only 39 days, Unit 2 was also successfully connected to the grid on May 19, 2010, contributing to solving the difficulties for EVN in providing electricity for the country's economic development. This is a project that the People's Committee of Nghe An province has put a sign "Project to celebrate the 120th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday, to celebrate the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long - Hanoi". With nearly 6 years of construction for the largest hydroelectric project in the North Central region, in very complex geological terrain and harsh weather conditions, but with the efforts to overcome difficulties, the tireless efforts and dedication of the staff, engineers, technical workers of the units such as the Project Management Board, design consulting unit, supervision consulting unit and construction units at the construction site, a large amount of work has been completed, ensuring the project's progress, putting the project into operation on time, supplementing the power source for the national grid, especially the central region during the period of power shortage. “Having witnessed the difficult beginnings and the tireless efforts of the factory team to reach the 5 billion kWh milestone today, those who directly participated in operating the Ban Ve Hydropower Plant, we are very happy to have contributed to the country's electricity for tomorrow” - Mr. Nguyen The Hung - Head of the hydropower plant operation shift shared.

During the development process of Hydropower Project Management Board 2, implementing EVN's policy on equitization of state-owned enterprises. In April 2011, Ban Ve Hydropower Company was established to carry out production and business tasks, officially participating in the pilot competitive electricity generation market - marking the transition to a market-based operating mechanism. Throughout this process, the management and operation of Ban Ve Hydropower Plant and Ban Ve Hydropower Reservoir have been well prepared from the training - title assessment, preparation, incident drills, flood and storm prevention drills, organization of operation and repair work to the completion of procedures, regulations and the organization of inspection - supervision of the implementation of operations according to procedures and regulations. Up to now, officers and employees have completely mastered the equipment from the operation, incident handling and repair and overhaul of the plant's equipment.

Thus, together with other hydropower projects, Ban Ve Hydropower Plant has become the leading unit in terms of scale of the provincial Electricity sector in the Western region of Nghe An. The Company's commercial electricity output in 2011 reached 1,125 million kWh; in 2012 reached 1,292 million kWh; in 2013 reached 1,225 million kWh; in 2014 it is estimated to reach 1,250 million kWh. The total accumulated electricity output up to November 30, 2014 was 5.142 billion kWh. By October 31, 2014, it had paid taxes to the Nghe An provincial budget of more than 553 billion VND and forest environmental service fees of nearly 83 billion VND. This is the achievement that the staff and employees of the entire Company have achieved after more than 4 years of operating Ban Ve Hydropower Plant, right on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Vietnam Revolutionary Electricity Industry.

It is estimated that Nghe An's electricity demand will increase by about 17.2% in the 2016-2020 period due to industrial development requirements. In the future, Ban Ve Hydropower Plant is actively contributing to the overall development of the province and the country.
