Captain of ship HQ-505 recalls the historic battle of Gac Ma
At 6:30 a.m. on March 14, 1988, after being continuously shelled by three Chinese ships, the HQ-505 was in danger of sinking. Captain Vu Huy Le decided to fly the ship to Co Lin Island - one of three islands in the Gac Ma group (Truong Sa archipelago), turning the ship into a fortress to guard the island.
