Moving towards organizing in Nghe An a series of events 'Vietnam Forestry - 75 years of formation and development'

On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam's forestry sector, Nghe An Provincial Party Committee signed a cooperation program with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to organize a series of events "Vietnam Forestry - 75 years of formation and development".

The Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee has assigned the Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee to develop the Project for the High-tech Forestry Zone in the North Central region in Nghe An. Up to now, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has coordinated with relevant ministries and branches to complete the appraisal of the Project and submit it to the Prime Minister for consideration and approval.

In parallel with the development of the Project, the Provincial People's Committee has directed the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to coordinate with the Provincial Investment Promotion and Support Center and relevant departments to connect potential enterprises wishing to invest in subdivisions in the North Central High-Tech Forestry Zone.

In functional subdivision 1, the province has attracted Thien Minh Duc Group Joint Stock Company to invest in the project of High-tech Forestry Seed Production Center and the Project of testing, demonstrating and replicating high-quality intensive forest planting model associated with sustainable forest management, forest certification, medicinal plant cultivation and non-timber forest products in the province.

In functional area 2, MK Central Solar Power Joint Stock Company is applying for investment policy for a project on production and processing of wood and non-timber forest products using high technology, expected to be 600 hectares in 3 communes in Nghi Loc district and Dai Son commune (Do Luong).

In functional area 3, 559 Investment and Trade Company Limited submitted a request to the Provincial People's Committee for permission to survey and establish a project for an administrative area and trading floor combined with an exhibition to introduce wood and forest products.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Ha Cong Tuan said that in the Northern region, many provinces have large forest areas but do not have high-tech forestry zones. After evaluating many provinces, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development decided to choose Nghe An to build a high-tech forestry zone.

“Nghe An has abundant forestry resources, convenient transportation, and a good logistics system. This is also the hometown of President Ho Chi Minh, who signed the decree to merge the Forestry Department under the Ministry of Agriculture, the predecessor of the Vietnamese forestry industry. When Nghe An successfully builds a high-tech forestry zone, it will be the driving force to spread to the North Central region,” said the Permanent Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.

According to Deputy Minister Ha Cong Tuan, in order for the high-tech forestry zone to attract investors, the most important issue is still the seaport. Currently, Nghe An province has Cua Lo port, which is capable of receiving 30,000-ton ships. The province needs to speed up the planning and upgrading of Cua Lo seaport to be able to receive larger ships, thereby attracting more investors.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung said that Nghe An was honored and proud to be chosen by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to organize a series of events, associated with extremely meaningful activities.

"For Nghe An, forestry plays an important role, because the province has 1 million hectares of forest area, with a coverage of 58%. The province also proposes many solutions for people to live and get rich from forestry. Therefore, the Project, when approved by the Government, is a great opportunity for the province's forestry development, contributing to the development of the forestry sector in the whole country," said Mr. Nguyen Duc Trung.

At the meeting, leaders of Nghe An province and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development agreed on the event series program "Vietnam Forestry - 75 years of formation and development".

The series of events will take place in November 2020, with 5 contents: Vietnam Forestry Anniversary - 75 years of formation and development in Vinh City; Ceremony to report achievements and offer incense to Uncle Ho at Kim Lien National Special Relic Site; Ceremony to attach the signboard of the project "High-tech Forestry Zone in the North Central region"; Conference to discuss solutions to promote the development of production, processing and export of forest products, period 2021-2025 and promote investment in the High-tech Forestry Zone; Exhibition to connect achievements of the forestry industry.
