Midfielder Hung Dung hopes fans will sympathize with the young player.

On the afternoon of January 3, the Vietnamese team had a training session in preparation for the 2024 Asian Cup. During an interview at the training ground, midfielder Do Hung Dung revealed more about the team's current situation.

"The whole team spent the first 1-2 days getting used to the playing style as well as physical training, currently the players feel quite good. Before, we had a tight schedule, every 3-4 days there was a tough V.League match, but in the past few days we have adjusted and focused on physical training to prepare for the upcoming tournament."

A regrettable point for the Vietnamese team is that central defender Que Ngoc Hai and striker Nguyen Tien Linh are injured and cannot participate in the 2024 Asian Cup. The Asian Cup is a tough tournament, the teams participate with seriousness and use the best players. The same goes for the Vietnam team, which will participate with the best of Vietnamese football at present. Although there are some injured players, Coach Troussier and the coaching staff have screened and selected the best players. We believe that we will perform well after the recent experiences."

The 2024 Asian Cup will be goalkeeper Filip Nguyen's first tournament in the Vietnamese national team. Hung Dung revealed more about his new teammate. "He is trying to communicate on the field and in his off-field activities, proactively communicating in Vietnamese to create relationships and good connections with the players. Hopefully Filip will adapt quickly to the team, and there is no need to discuss his level anymore."

In addition, Hung Dung also commented on the Japanese team, the first opponent of the Vietnamese team at the 2024 Asian Cup. "The Japanese team has many famous players. However, when playing on the field, it is completely normal for players to face each other. It is important for us to enter the field to compete for the flag and the shirt, of course, being able to compete with world-class players will help us learn many lessons and gain good experiences from a quality arena like the Asian Cup.

I think experience is something that cannot be passed on by word of mouth, cannot be conveyed in 1-2 sentences. Experience is something that we must go through. Every player will enter the field, make mistakes, or feel overwhelmed,… but after 1-2 matches they will become more mature.

I am an experienced player myself but I cannot tell young players to be confident, that is only in terms of information transfer. The players themselves have to be more mature. The matches can be difficult, mistakes can be made, fans should sympathize with the young players. When they enter the field, they always fight with all their might, no one wants to play poorly.
