(Baonghean.vn) -For many years now, in Chau Thon commune (Que Phong district, Nghe An province), precisely at 7 PM, the "study bell" rings simultaneously in all 13 hamlets, signaling to the children that it's time to study.

The "Education-Encouraging Bell" initiative has been implemented in 13 villages and hamlets in Chau Thon commune. Regularly, every night, the village heads (or Party branch secretaries) ring the bell at exactly 7 PM to signal the children to sit down and study.

After the bell rang signaling the start of study time, Vi Thi Hoai and her classmates sat down seriously at their desks to study.

Mr. Lo Van Tuan, Vice Chairman of Chau Thon commune, said: "Over the years of implementing the 'Education Promotion Bell' program, the children have become much more conscious of studying. Adults are also more aware of reminding their children to study and not to turn up the TV too loud during their study time. As a result, the academic achievements of children in the commune have improved significantly, and the percentage of children with good grades has increased every year. Therefore, the Party Committee and the People's Committee of the commune strongly support this movement."

Thanks to the "Education Encouragement Bell," Chau Thon has had its first student win a provincial-level award for academic excellence. That student is Vi Thi Hoai, a 9th-grade student at Chau Thon Ethnic Boarding Secondary School. Hoai's family lives in Co Nguu village; her mother has to go to the South to earn a living, while her father stays home to care for the children and work in the fields. Despite the hardships, Hoai is very studious, consistently achieving excellent grades from 1st to 9th grade. Recently, she won an honorable mention in Geography at the provincial-level academic excellence competition and received the title of "Future Young Leader" from the District Youth Union. Vi Thi Hoai shared: "The 'Education Encouragement Bell' has instilled in me a serious study habit. Every day I sit down at my desk to study on time. I have to study hard to make my parents happy, and I aspire to become a doctor to treat the people in my village." At school, Vi Thi Hoai is an exemplary and dynamic student leader and a well-liked class deputy.

Mr. Lo Minh Duc, Principal of Chau Thon Ethnic Boarding Junior High School, said: "The school has 100 students in the dormitory, 46 of whom are Mong, 17 are Khmu, and the rest are Thai... All students seriously follow the 'Learning Bell' program, so their academic achievements are very good. In the villages, the school conducts monthly surprise inspections to ensure the seriousness and continuity of the 'Learning Bell' program."

The "Study Bell" movement in Chau Thon has truly created a learning atmosphere in all 13 hamlets and villages, making Chau Thon one of the leading units in promoting education in Que Phong district.
