Forest fires continue to break out in Ru Dun - Nam Dan

(Baonghean.vn) - At around 4:00 a.m. on May 26, a forest fire broke out again in the Ru Dun area (Nam Dan), although the fire had been controlled before (at 6:00 p.m. on May 25).

Previously, at around 1:30 p.m. on May 25, a fire broke out in the southwest forest near Ru Dun peak, bordering Nam Dan and Thanh Chuong districts.

The fire quickly grew high, fierce and spread rapidly. By 6 p.m. the same day, the fire was basically under control. However, just a short time later, the fire continued to flare up, spreading rapidly to Nam Dan district.

Mr. Nguyen Thac Au - Chief of Office of Nam Dan District People's Committee, said: At nearly 4:00 a.m. this morning, May 26, the fire suddenly flared up again. Due to hot, dry weather, combined with strong winds, the fire broke out very quickly. Currently, the district has mobilized forces to participate in fire fighting, and at the same time canceled all meetings to focus on fire fighting.

According to our observations in the fire areas, the fire spread quickly and widely. Pine forests in Nam Thai, Van Dien and Nam Thuong communes were severely damaged.

By 8 a.m., the Ru Dun area (Hamlet 5, Nam Thuong Commune) had been basically brought under control. Mr. Nguyen Thuc Phao - Chairman of Nam Thuong Commune People's Committee, said: Due to the large area of ​​fire and rapid spread, firefighting was very difficult. The main measure was to control and contain the fire at the runways.

Mr. Thai Thanh Quy - Secretary of Nam Dan District Party Committee said: After discovering the fire, the district mobilized local forces, militia and self-defense forces from Nam Thai, Van Dien, Nam Thuong communes, along with functional forces such as forest rangers, Brigade 414... a total of about 700 people were present in time to control the fire.

Due to the thick vegetation and high mountain terrain, the rescue work was extremely difficult. The district directed forces to both put out the fire and build a firebreak for more than 3 hours. At 11:30 this morning, the fire was brought under control, and it is estimated that the fire damaged nearly 1 hectare of pine forest.

The district continues to deploy forces to handle the ashes and guard the forest fires.
