Continue to promote activities to help the poor
(Appeal of the Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee)
After more than 10 years of implementing the "Day for the Poor" Campaign in our province, the "Fund for the Poor" has mobilized more than 300 billion VND to help renovate and repair more than 25,000 houses for the poor and save tens of thousands of families from hunger, while also assisting the poor with means of production, medicine, and helping poor students go to school...
At the end of 2011, due to the impact of floods in August and September 2011 and the impact of the world economic recession, along with price fluctuations, people's lives faced many difficulties, so the poverty rate in our province is now 20.6%; in which there are still tens of thousands of families living in makeshift houses.
Sharing difficulties and helping the poor is the sentiment, morality and tradition of Vietnamese people.
I earnestly call on all sectors, levels, agencies, organizations, units, businesses, philanthropists, people of all walks of life in the province, Nghe An people living in the country and abroad to reduce their spending to contribute to the province's "Fund for the Poor", to share the burden with the poor, helping them have the conditions to rise up, stabilize their lives, and integrate into the community.
