Continue to improve the quality and effectiveness of foreign information work in the new situation
Comrade Lai Xuan Mon - Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department requested the leaders of the Steering Committees of provinces and cities to continue to thoroughly grasp Conclusion No. 57-KL/TW on continuing to improve the quality and effectiveness of foreign information work in the new situation.
On the morning of August 9, in Da Nang, the Central Propaganda Department chaired and coordinated with the Government's Human Rights Steering Committee and the Da Nang City Party Committee to organize a training conference on foreign information and human rights in 2024 for leaders and officials in 14 provinces and cities in the North Central and Central Coast regions.
Attending the conference were comrades: Lai Xuan Mon - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department; Nguyen Dinh Vinh - Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee; Major General Nguyen Van Ky - Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Public Security, Deputy Head of the Government's Permanent Office for Human Rights.

At the conference, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Information and Communications, and the Standing Office of the Government's Human Rights Steering Committee presented reports and thematic discussions on the implementation of the main tasks and solutions in Resolution No. 47/NQ-CP dated April 15, 2024 of the Government on the Government's Action Program to 2030 to implement Conclusion No. 57-KL/TW of the Politburo on continuing to improve the quality and effectiveness of foreign information work in the new situation, associated with the characteristics of 14 provinces and cities in the North Central and Central Coast regions.
Information on the core and key contents of Conclusion No. 71-KL/TW dated February 16, 2024 of the Politburo on a number of major tasks and solutions to implement the foreign policy of the 13th National Party Congress.

Over the past time, foreign information work has continued to play an important role in the international integration process, contributing to enhancing the position, prestige and image of Vietnam in the region and in the international arena, protecting the Party's foundation, promptly fighting against false and hostile information, making the world understand clearly and correctly about Vietnam, thereby gaining the support of international friends for the cause of building, protecting and developing the country.

In the face of complex, rapid and unpredictable developments in the world and the region, it is forecasted that it will bring both advantages, opportunities and difficulties and challenges to Vietnam in ensuring national and ethnic interests; and in the context of the rapid and profound impact of digital transformation that blurs the boundaries between domestic and foreign information, foreign information work has been placed before new requirements, requiring the setting of new goals and tasks to effectively and breakthroughly implement foreign information work in the new situation.

In that context, the Government has passed Resolution No. 47/NQ-CP promulgating the Government's Action Program until 2030 to implement Conclusion No. 57-KL/TW dated June 15, 2023 of the Politburo on continuing to improve the quality and effectiveness of external information work in the new situation.
The Action Program has concretized the viewpoints, goals, 5 tasks and solutions of the Party as set out in Conclusion No. 57-KL/TW and is the basis for ministries, branches and localities to develop Action Programs/Plans according to assigned functions, tasks and powers, in order to deploy tasks in a focused, key, synchronous, consistent and effective manner, contributing to the successful implementation of the tasks assigned by the Politburo in Conclusion No. 57-KL/TW.

From the guiding viewpoints, tasks and solutions proposed, localities need to focus on research, based on the characteristics of each region to propose appropriate directions, mechanisms and policies to promote foreign information.

Also at the conference, delegates listened to a special topic on the viewpoints, guidelines and policies of our Party and State on human rights issues; achievements in ensuring human rights in Vietnam; Vietnam's response to human rights issues at multilateral forums, orientations for human rights work in the coming time, emphasizing the focus of external information work on human rights.

Speaking at the conference, Comrade Lai Xuan Mon - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, assessed that in recent times, foreign information and propaganda work on human rights has achieved important results, especially through recent domestic and international events, contributing to enhancing Vietnam's position and prestige in the international arena.

According to Comrade Lai Xuan Mon, entering the second half of 2024 and moving towards the 14th National Congress of the Party, with many challenges but also many new opportunities, new advantages, new opportunities. Therefore, he requested that the leaders of the Steering Committees of provinces and cities continue to thoroughly grasp Conclusion No. 57-KL/TW on continuing to improve the quality and effectiveness of foreign information work in the new situation; raise awareness among cadres, party members and people about the importance of foreign information work, and Vietnam's achievements in human rights; pay attention to communication about human rights.

At the same time, strengthen coordination, innovate content, diversify foreign information methods, step up the fight against false and distorted arguments of hostile forces, increase resources, improve material conditions and capacity of staff working on foreign information and human rights.
