Continue to improve the quality of comprehensive education, worthy of the school named after patriot Phan Boi Chau (*)

(Speech by President Truong Tan Sang at the opening ceremony of Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted)

Dear teachers and students of Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted!

On the occasion of the opening day of the new school year 2011 - 2012, I would like to send my best wishes to the delegates, teachers and all students of Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted.

Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted is a school with a long tradition, achieving many outstanding achievements in teaching and learning, actively contributing to human resource development, nurturing talents for the locality and the country. I am pleased to know that in the 2010-2011 school year, Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted had 4 students participating in and winning international and regional competitions; is a school in the top of the country in terms of quantity and quality of students participating in international competitions, students taking university entrance exams with high scores; the school's students are outstanding young people in terms of morality, intelligence, physical fitness and aesthetics of Nghe An province. Nghe An's education system has developed rapidly from preschool to general, continuing, professional, college and university education, with increasingly improved quality, and is one of the units continuously leading the education sector nationwide.

I warmly commend the outstanding achievements in teaching and learning of teachers and students of Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted and of the Education Department of Nghe An province in recent years.

Dear comrades, teachers and students!

Implementing the teaching of beloved Uncle Ho "for the benefit of ten years, we must plant trees, for the benefit of a hundred years, we must cultivate people", so that education and training is truly the top national policy, the driving force for the rapid and sustainable development of the country, improving the quality of human resources is one of the breakthroughs to realize the goal of our country basically becoming an industrialized country in the modern direction by 2020, the 11th Party Congress set out the task of fundamental and comprehensive innovation in education and training, innovation in programs, content, teaching and learning methods, innovation in management mechanisms, development of the team of teachers and educational managers; improving the quality of comprehensive education.

I hope and believe that, together with the education sector nationwide, the Party committees at all levels, the government, the Fatherland Front, organizations, cadres, party members, teachers of Nghe An province will thoroughly grasp, seriously, creatively and effectively implement the tasks set out by the 11th Party Congress, constantly develop and improve the quality of education, so that Nghe An will always maintain and promote its leading role in the education sector nationwide, worthy of the honor of being the homeland of beloved Uncle Ho.

I hope and believe that the students of Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted will uphold the school's tradition, follow the example of previous generations, strive to achieve the highest achievements in training and studying, and be worthy of being students of the school named after the patriot Phan Boi Chau, in the homeland of Uncle Ho, so that in the future they will become exemplary citizens, scientists, good managers, successful businessmen, contributing to building the homeland and country to become increasingly rich and powerful, making the Vietnamese people famous in the world, and fulfilling Uncle Ho's wish: "Whether Vietnam's mountains and rivers become beautiful or not, whether the Vietnamese people can step up to the stage of glory to stand shoulder to shoulder with the great powers of the five continents or not, depends largely on your studies."

With that belief, I wish the teachers and all students of Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, and the Education and Training sector of Nghe An to continuously develop and achieve many outstanding achievements in the coming school year.
