(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of January 12, the Government held an online conference to review the work in 2023 and deploy the work in 2024 of the National Civil Aviation Security Committee.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang - Chairman of the National Civil Aviation Security Committee chaired the conference. Also attending were representatives of ministries, sectors, aviation enterprises and provinces with airports.

Prevent and handle promptlyaviation security violations
In 2023, Vietnam's aviation market will continue to grow steadily. The total air transport market in 2023 is estimated to reach approximately 74 million passengers, an increase of 34.5% compared to 2022 and equal to 93.6% compared to 2019 (before the Covid-19 pandemic) and 1.1 million tons of cargo, a decrease of 9.3% compared to 2022 and equal to 87.3% compared to 2019.
Regarding aviation security, it was well implemented, aviation security violations were prevented and handled promptly. Incidents threatening aviation security were investigated by authorities to clarify the causes in order to propose remedial and preventive measures. Statistics show that compared to the same period in 2022, the total number of incidents increased by 445 cases, notably the number of cases of passengers not being allowed to enter the country, including both in Vietnam and abroad, increased (806 cases compared to 340 cases in the same period in 2022).
In 2023, at Vinh International Airport, the functional forces of Nghe An province coordinated with the airport's aviation security to detect and handle 2 cases of illegal entry into the airport area, 2 cases of illegal transportation of weapons and support tools; 34 cases of extradition of violators by air.
Implement synchronous measures to ensure security and safety
At the conference, ministries, branches, localities and units made a more thorough assessment of the issue of ensuring civil aviation security in recent times; at the same time, proposed solutions to overcome and respond to possible incidents.
Speaking at the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang emphasized that ensuring absolute aviation security and safety is a top political task.
Accordingly, ministries, branches and localities need to continue to synchronously implement measures to ensure security, safety, prevent terrorism, sabotage and illegal interference in aviation activities; promote propaganda to raise public awareness in ensuring aviation security and building an aviation security culture.
Strengthen formal training on control, management and operation of aviation security control forces, aviation security supervision; develop plans, organize training, education and invest in equipment to proactively deal with the use of drones and ultralight aircraft to illegally interfere with civil aviation activities.
At the same time, continue to strengthen coordination between state management agencies, local authorities, police units, military units and aviation service providers in ensuring political security and social order and safety at airports.
