Continue to effectively implement the restructuring of the agricultural sector

(Baonghean.vn) – On September 12, continuing the working trip to Nghe An, the working delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development led by Mr. Vu Van Tam - Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development had a working session with the Provincial People's Committee on the restructuring of the agricultural sector. Mr. Dinh Viet Hong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, co-chaired the meeting, attended by Mr. Ho Ngoc Sy, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and related departments and units.

At the meeting, leaders of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development reported to the working delegation on the agricultural situation in Nghe An in the first 8 months of the year and the situation after 2 years of implementing the Agricultural Restructuring Project.

Mr. Ho Ngoc Sy, Director of the Department of Agriculture, reported on the restructuring of Nghe An's agricultural sector.

To implement the Central Government's policy on restructuring the sector, on December 31, 2013, Nghe An Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 6593/QD-UBND approving the Project on restructuring the agricultural sector towards increasing added value and sustainable development, period 2013 - 2020; Develop and organize the implementation of plans and projects; review and promulgate technical production processes. Nghe An has organized the production of high-quality rice reaching over 30,000 - 40,000 hectares/year. Production efficiency increased by 10-15%.

After 2 years of restructuring, the province's agricultural sector has achieved positive results. Specifically, up to now, 21/21 districts, cities and towns have basically completed the land consolidation work. At the same time, 28 large-scale field models have been built, increasing production efficiency by 15% compared to mass production. Along with that, many high-yield and high-quality crop and livestock varieties have been put into intensive production such as LDP1 tea with a yield of 16-18 tons/ha; peanuts L14, L23 with a yield of 4.5 - 5 tons/ha... High-tech production processes such as VietGap, basic Gap, SRI, IPM pest management have been quickly applied to production.

At the meeting, after listening to the opinions of the members, concluding the working session, Mr. Vu Van Tam, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, highly appreciated the results of Nghe An Agriculture sector in implementing the restructuring policy of the sector, the Project of the province and has achieved initial results. In the coming time, to better implement the Project, it is necessary to propagate and raise awareness of all levels, sectors and establishments. But restructuring still has limitations.

In the coming time, Nghe An needs to well implement planning and organize commodity production in the direction of large scale, international competitiveness, achieving high efficiency in production, bringing higher income to farmers, mechanizing, modernizing rural agriculture, developing agricultural services and rural development.
