Continue to build Vietnam - Cambodia friendship

(Baonghean.vn) - On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the liberation of Cambodia (January 7, 1979 - January 7, 2014), on the morning of January 4, 2014, in Vinh City, the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association of Nghe An Province organized a meeting with experts who had helped the neighboring country during the years 1979 - 1989. Comrade Vo Viet Thanh, Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Secretary of the Vinh City Party Committee, President of the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association of Nghe An Province chaired the meeting.

Mr. To Vinh, former Standing Member of Nghe Tinh Provincial Party Committee, former Cambodian expert, recalled his years of working in neighboring land.

The former experts recalled the years of hard work on friendly land to help the Cambodian people recover after the genocide. That was the time when the remnants of the Pol Pot army fought fiercely while the friendly forces were weak and thin, the people's education level was low, and the two sides spoke different languages. In that situation, Vietnamese experts in general, and Nghe An experts in particular, spared no effort and blood to help the Cambodian people gradually restore and rebuild the country; making an important contribution to the victory of the Cambodian Revolution in the fields of politics, socio-economy, and national security and defense.

Referring to the recent political situation in Cambodia, former experts hope that Cambodia will soon overcome the current instability and believe that the Vietnam - Cambodia friendship will last forever.

The meeting also awarded certificates of merit from the Nghe An Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations to individuals and branches of the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association with many achievements in association activities in recent times.

It is known that in 10 years (1979 - 1989), Nghe An province had nearly 10,000 officers and soldiers participating in fighting to help our friends on the Cambodian battlefields and nearly 300 experts who had worked on our land. Among them, many military officers and experts sacrificed their lives on our land while performing their noble international duties.
