(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of May 21, the Cyber Security and Safety Subcommittee of Nghe An province held a meeting to evaluate the results of the first 6 months of the year and deploy tasks for the last 6 months of 2024.
Ensuring safety and network security
Closely following the direction of the National Cyber Security Steering Committee, in the first 6 months of 2024, the Cyber Security Subcommittee of Nghe An provincehas proactively, synchronously and effectively implemented the work of ensuring network safety and security and protecting state secrets in cyberspace.
Thereby, contributing to serving the professional work of agencies and units well, ensuring security and order and promoting digital transformation in the province.
The province has piloted the construction of the Nghe An Province Smart City Operation Center (IOC); Information Security and Cyber Security Monitoring Center (SOC); Completed technical connection from the provincial-level integrated and shared platform (LGSP) to the national data integration and sharing platform (NGSP/NDXP) for exploitation according to the instructions of the Ministry of Information and Communications.
Currently, the administrative procedure settlement information system of Nghe An province has been integrated to exploit some data from the Central Government such as: National population database (Ministry of Public Security); National database on business registration (Ministry of Planning and Investment); National database on insurance (Vietnam Social Security)...

In the first 6 months of 2024, force 35 in the whole province actively applied digital technology to effectively serve propaganda work, orient public opinion, fight against hostile views, fake news, and untrue news, contributing to orienting public opinion and ensuring security and order in the area.
The authorities also promptly detected, fought against, and handled 27 cases of providing and sharing fake information, false information, distorting, slandering, and insulting the reputation of agencies, organizations, and the honor and dignity of individuals. Accordingly, decisions were made to impose administrative penalties on 12 cases, collecting 75 million VND to the State budget.
In addition, deploying forces, means, and professional measures to combat and clarify 26 cases, break 23 projects, and arrest 215 subjects who used cyberspace to commit crimes.
However, in ensuring network safety and security in the province, there are still some shortcomings and limitations: Information technology infrastructure development is uneven between regions, the quality of some basic services in mountainous districts is still low, the computer network system is not synchronized, and there is no specialized information security equipment.
The number of IT enterprises serving the province's digital transformation process is not large, and there are no enterprises specializing in the field of information security. Human resources, facilities, equipment, and means serving the work of protecting State secrets in cyberspace and preventing and combating cyber attacks, although receiving investment attention, have not yet met practical requirements...
Building a people's security posture in cyberspace
After listening to the report on the situation and results of activities in the first 6 months of 2024, members of the Provincial Cyber Security and Safety Subcommittee focused on discussing and contributing ideas; at the same time, proposed a number of specific solutions to improve the quality and effectiveness of the subcommittee's activities in the coming time, contributing to the successful implementation of the socio-economic development tasks of the province.
Speaking at the meeting, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Hong Vinh emphasized the role and importance of network security and safety in the new period; acknowledged and highly appreciated the performance of members of the Steering Committee and the working group of the Provincial Network Security and Safety Subcommittee in the past time.
At the same time, he suggested that in the coming time, the members of the subcommittee continue to coordinate well in advising on enhancing the role of heads of agencies, units, sectors and localities in ensuring network security and information security; promote propaganda to raise awareness of network security for cadres, civil servants, public employees, officers and soldiers of the armed forces in the province.
Mobilize resources, focus on building a people's security posture, create combined strength to prevent and combat all types of crimes in cyberspace.
