At Cua Hoi fishing port, according to our records, before the storm hit the mainland, seafood trading activities were taking place urgently. From 4am, people gathered at the fishing port to wait for the ship to return to the dock. Small traders waited for the ship to select the freshest seafood to sell at retail markets in Vinh city, Cua Lo town and Nghi Loc district.
Ms. Tran Thi Thanh, a trader in Nghi Xuan commune (Nghi Loc), who specializes in importing seafood from this fish market to sell in Vinh city, said: To buy delicious seafood, you have to go to the market very early, sometimes when you get there the ship has not returned yet. After buying the goods, you quickly bring them to Vinh city to sell in time for the market. Although there are storm warnings, according to Ms. Thanh, before and after the storm, fishing boats often catch big, mainly silver pomfret, mackerel, and shrimp. Therefore, you have to be at the wharf at any time to hope to buy delicious seafood.

In addition to small traders who collect goods and bring them to retail markets, at Cua Hoi fishing port, many small traders also take advantage of old refrigerated trucks to turn them into cold storage to store seafood. They are ready to collect seafood, in case of prolonged storms and boats cannot go out to sea, so that there will still be seafood to serve the needs of customers.

Arriving at this fish market early in the morning, when the fishing boats have just arrived at the shore, many people have not had breakfast yet. Only when the customers are gone do they have time to quickly eat a bowl of noodles before continuing their work. Photo: Tien Dong |
In Cua Hoi area, currently, in addition to the fishing port managed by Nghe An Fishing Port Management Board, there is also a fishing port managed by the local government, which is where small-capacity ships dock. On average, about 50 ships dock here every day.
Because in the past few days, Nghe An sea area has not been affected much by storm No. 4, fishing boats near the shore are still operating. Therefore, to ensure market demand, small seafood traders continue to operate. When there is a notice prohibiting the sea, or prohibiting seafood trading activities at the port to ensure the safety of people's lives and property, they will comply.
