Finding solutions to effectively exploit the Vinh - Vientiane flight route
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of April 1, the Provincial People's Committee held a working session to discuss solutions to promote the effective exploitation of the Vinh - Vientiane flight route and develop Nghe An tourism associated with aviation.
Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired the meeting. Also attending were comrades: Dinh Thi Le Thanh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Huynh Thanh Dien - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
After nearly 3 months of operation, Vietnam Airlines has operated 38 flights from Vinh to Vientiane and vice versa with 1,100 passengers, accounting for only 43% of the total number of passengers per flight. In March alone, Vietnam Airlines had to cancel 6 flights due to lack of passengers. Therefore, the meeting aims to clarify the causes and propose solutions to promote the effective exploitation of this international air route.

At the meeting, many opinions said that the Vinh - Vientiane flight route has not been as expected due to many reasons. Those are issues related to the promotion and advertising of the flight route in Laos and Thailand that have not been implemented synchronously. Compared to road travel, airfares are many times higher, while the Vietnamese community in Laos is mainly freelance workers, small traders, low income, so road travel is still the main choice. In addition, according to the reflection of many delegates, flight schedules and flight times are still inadequate, tour prices are high. Moreover, this is not the tourist season, so the number of visitors has decreased significantly.

Concluding the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Duong - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that the opening of the Vinh - Vientiane flight route was very difficult, but it was the result of the province's efforts. The flight route is very important in expanding international exchanges and cooperation in all fields. Opening the flight route was difficult, and closing the flight route and then reopening it would be even more difficult. Therefore, the agencies, departments and branches assigned to the task must be responsible for propaganda, promotion and have specific and practical activities to maintain this flight route. The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also affirmed that when the flight route was opened, the main responsibility belonged to the Department of Transport. Now that the flight route has been formed and put into operation, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is the unit responsible for promoting and linking tourism activities associated with aviation. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Duong also requested that the branches, localities and businesses in the area participate in supporting the Vinh - Vientiane international flight route. Besides, the aviation industry needs to improve service quality to attract passengers.
