At the workshop, delegates listened to scientists and experts present many reports focusing on the following issues: Orientation for agricultural development adapting to climate change in the Central coastal region; Assessment of the impact of electricity from hydroelectric reservoirs on the Vu Gia - Thu Bon river system when assigning additional flood prevention tasks; Rules for safe flood discharge operations for the reservoir system on the Vu Gia - Thu Bon river basin during the rainy season; Restoration and management of wetland ecosystems to adapt to climate change...

In addition, scientists and experts also introduced a number of models such as: Experience from a number of climate change adaptation models; Improving climate change response capacity for people in Tam Giang-Cau Hai lagoon (Thua Thien-Hue province); Climate change and green economic development in Khanh Hoa province; Applying the Mike Flood model to simulate flooding in Da Nang city taking into account climate change and rising sea levels; Impacts of climate change on resources - environment, socio-economy and response solutions of Tam Ky city (Quang Nam).

At the workshop, delegates spent a lot of time exchanging, discussing, and finding solutions to raise awareness, the role of the community, and the responsibility of the State; at the same time promoting the development of science and technology; focusing resources on the economy and society to proactively respond to increasingly complex climate change.

Speaking at the workshop, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Quang, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province (co-chair of the workshop) emphasized: Responding to climate change, managing and protecting resources are vital; they are decisive factors for the sustainable development of each country and nation. The Vietnamese Government has approved the National Strategy on Climate Change and proposed solutions to respond to the challenges that Vietnam is facing.

In fact, in recent years, the Central Highlands provinces have suffered from many devastating storms and floods, causing heavy damage to life and social security. Therefore, from now on, we must take proactive action, find solutions to respond to climate change in a synchronous, specific and effective manner to minimize damage caused by natural disasters.
